US Secretary of State Condemns Hamas Attack, Extends Condolences for Nepali Students' Loss

Washington DC: In a bilateral meeting with Nepal's Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken expressed strong condemnation for the terrorist attack in Israel by Hamas and extended heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of 10 Nepali students.

Blinken described the attack as a terrorist incident and emphasized the deep sense of loss felt by the United States. Following the meeting, a joint press briefing was held, where both officials highlighted the robust partnership between Nepal and the United States.

Secretary Blinken underlined the 76 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations and the significance of Nepal as a valued partner in the Indo-Pacific region. He stated, "We’re working together to ensure that we have a free, open, secure, prosperous region."

Furthermore, Blinken commended Nepal's constructive role in international organizations, particularly through its participation in peacekeeping missions worldwide. He expressed the intent to strengthen bilateral relations with a focus on people-to-people ties and economic cooperation.

In response, Foreign Minister Saud acknowledged the condolences from the US and thanked the United States for its ongoing support to Nepal. He recognized the US as a major development partner, particularly in infrastructure, health, and education sectors. Minister Saud expressed gratitude to Secretary of State Antony Blinken for the bilateral meeting during challenging times, emphasizing the priority that the United States places on its relationship with Nepal.

Minister Saud also extended appreciation to the US government and its citizens for their support to Nepal in times of crisis.
